Annual school performance pack

A governors’ and SLT pack covering attainment, progress, attendance, and pupil groups for one academic year, written for a named Full Governing Body meeting.

Empty school corridor with lockers and classroom doors

Who it is for

Headteachers, deputy heads with assessment, and school business managers in maintained schools, academies, and small MATs in England.

What you receive

A numbered PDF pack (and print-ready tables) that a governing board can work through in a single agenda item, with commentary in plain English beside each chart.

Indicators agreed at briefing. Typical contents: headline attainment and progress against prior year, attendance and persistent absence, SEND and pupil-premium gaps, year-group notes, and a one-page issues list for the chair.

Included

  • Scoping call (45 minutes) to agree questions the board actually needs answered
  • A data checklist for your assessment lead or data manager
  • Two draft rounds against the agreed indicator list
  • Final PDF plus spreadsheet tables for the clerk to file
  • A 90-minute briefing with the head and chair (remote, or at your school by arrangement)

Not included

  • Statutory census or performance-table submissions to the Department for Education
  • Day-to-day management of your management information system
  • Lesson observation or curriculum review
  • Live logins retained after the engagement ends

Who prepares it

Prepared by a Content Workline associate who has worked as a school assessment lead or local-authority performance officer, then reviewed by a second reader before the final send.

How the work runs

  1. Briefing We agree the meeting date, the audience (FGB, standards committee, or both), and which pupil groups matter this year.
  2. Extracts You send anonymised or school-level extracts from your MIS using our checklist. We do not scrape live systems.
  3. Draft pack Charts and commentary arrive as a single document. You mark factual corrections and questions the board will raise.
  4. Final and briefing We lock the pack, supply the clerk’s file copy, and talk the head and chair through likely discussion points.

Timeline

Four to six weeks from a complete extract, timed to your autumn or spring governors’ cycle.

Where the work happens

Prepared from Kelshall, Hertfordshire. Briefings are remote by default; a school visit can be added when the board prefers a paper walkthrough.

What to prepare

Name a single contact, confirm the meeting date, and allow your data manager two working days to pull the extract. Prior-year packs, if you have them, help us match the board’s existing language.

Limits we will not stretch

We work from what the school holds. If a year group is too small to report without identifying pupils, we suppress or band the figures and say so in the notes.

Fees

From £2,400 for a single-school annual pack. Extra year groups, a MAT comparison annex, or an on-site briefing are quoted separately.

Next step

Write to us with the school name, the meeting date, and whether the pack is for the full board or a committee.
